SCHEY stated that he observed this object in the sky due west of Clifton, N. J. According to SCHEY, the object had a shape resembling that of an underwater demolition bomb and light, in the shape of a cross, was coming from within this UFO. SCHEY stated that he, with the use of his field glasses, was able to see what looked like diamond-shaped holes in the UFO from which the light emitted. Dete Langrghr informed the writer that at 12:13 AM on this date he and his partner, Det. Edward Sherry viewed in the sky the exhaust of an object which Det. Langrehr stated traveled at a speed of 300 or 4,00 miles an hour at an altitude of 1,000 to 3,000 feet. He described this object as having an exhaust of a brillant bihuish white flame about 10 feet long and he stated he saw this object for about 30 seconds. He stated that it wasn't a fallen star in his opinion as it traveled in a. flight © manne#. He and Det. Sherry saw this object at Communipaw and Pacific Ave.'s in Jersey Sity, while they were in a car traveling _ due west. They stated this object traveled in a North, Northwest — direction. They lost sight of it when it traveled behind some buildings in Jersey City. They stated that Ptl. John WHEAMEN | of the same precinct also viewed it. These three officers are all attached to the Fourth (| th) Precinct in Jersey @ity. Det. Langrehr resides at 55 Bleecker St., Jersey City, N.J. and | Dete Sherry resides at 56 Gates Aves, Jersey City, N.J. _ At 1205 aM, the writer received a phone call from Mr. Herman Taubman, who stated that he had viewed an object which he described as a metorite or comet in the sky above Woodbridge, N.J., on Helm Ave., in that city. They stated ( He and his wife Betty) that they were on a hill above the Curtiss-Wright Plant in that city and this object flew over this plant in a left to right direction at a height of 1,000 to 3,000 feet but he said ittbravdéled at a speed of 10,000 mple » and his wife said it braveled much slower than thet es himself and his wife, he stated the folleving” Seielke 4 et: Doris and Bob Ostroff of Roselle, N.J.3 the n's of Passaic, N.J. (Mr. Packer is a Lawyer) ¥ and other witnesses whose names he will give upon Just i ne concluded the conversation - The writer telephonically contacted SA John Murphy, who is in charge of liaison with other government agencies in the Newark office,at 1:10 AM. The writer wished to know whether he should immediat@ly conatact OSI or if SA Murphy should do so. SA Murphy told the writer that the procedure as he understooddit was to send a letter to the interested agency and not make an immediate contaetiwith the agency at night. SA Murphy did suggest that the writer inform the Sunday morning duty agent of the | contents of this memo and leave it to his discretion as to whether OSI should be cond@yacted at that time. Mrs. A.G.DDower telephonically contacted the Newark office at 1:35 AM on this date. She informed the writer that she and her husband had seen a UFO that had passed over her residence in a South to North directi6n; that it had lasted for only two or three seconds; that to her it appeared to be a white hot point of light, with a tail of predomiantly orange coloring; that this tail was at least ten times as large as the object; that the tail was fan shaped; that it was alti an altitude of greater than 3,000 feet; that it was unlike a falling star; and that when they first saw the object it appeared to them tha§ it had burst into flames. STOCKS believes that these flying objects were flying saucers and he would like to furnish this information to the appropriate federal agency. STOCKS advised that he observed flying saucers over Lodi, New Jersey, on 9/15/62 and notified the local police department of this event.
