N.Y. ., January 4, 1955 U.S. Air Force Project Bluebook (Flying Saucers) Dear Sirs: My name is Kenneth Ha.nsen. I am a student at Riehmond Hill High School in the borough of Queens, L.I. N.Y. I am in my third term and have Public Speak ing as a major subject. As a pa.rt of the final mark we were all asked to give a speech to convince. I decided that myself and two other boys would try.. to convince the class that Flying Saucers re rea.l and that they are interplanet ry. We thought this would be easy. But we soon .found out that at least three quarters of the class did not beli~ve us. Two very smart students in this class have already seen a U.F.O. Our speeches must have been good since my marlr was 99, the two other boys marks were 97, and 90. We asked those who did not be lieve u~ what proof we could gj_ve them. They said they wanted tangible proor. We showed them pictures of U.F.O.s that George Adamski took at Palomar Observat , ory. I would like to know if you have any in.forma.tion that is in leaflet orm that I could b:uy-1~·:··· Also if you have any slide pictures I could by that we be: of some use to ah~w to the class. If you have any information cone rning the~e Flying Saucers I Vould very much like to hear from you. I am very interest ea in bhe reports of these many U.F.O. • sightings. ' If you would write. a. le.tter to me even if you do not have any info~ matinn I would like to read the letter to the class to show them that the Air Force is'·, taking a interest in these Fl}!ing Saucers. Dear Sir: I bave recently been engaged by "Main Events," an evening session ly newspaper at the City College, to do a series of articles on interplanetary flight, which shall shortly be published. In one of my installments 1t shall be necessary for me to deal with the subject of "f'lyin.g saucers." In connection with this, I should "• desire to know if it would be at all possible for me to obtain some photographs (preferably 8" X 1011 glossy) oi' the supposed saucers or UFO's. I shoulcl. a.lso be greatly appreciative of a fact sheet(s) 1n reference to some impo~tant sightings and the conclusions reached by the ATIC in ect1on w1th those sightings. I wish to impress upon you that this installment {like the others) is in»ended merely as ,an attempt to reiterate the "facts" to my readers. However, I will express my opinions concerning this subject after con sideration or the evidence. This particular installment will be published in early March. Thank you for your kind consideration and cooperation in this matter. Very t:ruly yours, P.S. Air Force Intelligence c/o Project Bluebook The Pentagon Washington, D. c. Gentlmens My subject is 1Flying Saucers•. I will keep my letter short as I am aware that your time is very important. In the August issue of' Fate Magazine, there is an article titled •Are The Saucers Mad.e On Earth?" by a James W. Moseley. In this article Mr. Moseley contends that the Saucers are made on earth, and in this country. I have but one question to ask you. If' Mr. Moseley is right then this means that the Air Force is 1'1.ring it's test missiles, or whatever they are, over major American cities, into the airways of' the major airlines, with no regard to the hazard placed over the heads of' millions of' Americans. I personally, have great respect f'or the U~ s. Air Force and the men who run it. I cannot make myself belieTe that the Personal at the top have all lost their marbles, and allow such a thing to ha.ppen. Thousands et,peop1e will read that article, and thousands will be a.sking themselves th.e same question which I have asked you. Such an article is a disgrace to our Air Force and all o~ it's members. This Moseley should be slapped down publically.
